Become A Part of Something Big

My friend Charles Senteio recently forwarded me an announcement from Richard G. Averitt, Co-Founder and CEO of "A Part of Something Big." The company calls itself "a unique and exclusive collection of earth friendly, fair trade, micro-financed and social development goods, that represent a major breakthrough for school and non-profit fundraising."

Before addressing the fundraising possibilities, I found the items on the store intriguing enough to post this blog. If you're a fan of green commerce, this site is worth a visit:

Here is their announcement:

Phones For Good

Received this email below from Phones For Good a few weeks ago...

PhonesForGood.com is an online retailer of cellular phones dedicated to raising money for nonprofit organizations. By asking your staff and supporters to purchase their next new cellular phone and plan through our website (from AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, Nextel, T-Mobile), your organization will earn $40.00 - $50.00 for each new purchase.

Over 90% of your members and supporters already own a cellular phone and will buy a new one within the next 18-24 months. Why not buy their next phone in a way that benefits Central Dallas Ministries?"

Here's all you need to do to get started:

1. Visit www.phonesforgood.com to sign-up your organization (takes about 2 minutes).

2. Inform your members and supporters (through your email, newsletters, website, flyers, etc).

3. Receive checks quarterly from purchases made by your supporters.
So, yes, I registered -- I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff. I have definitely wasted lots of time on "2 minute" exercises like this.

Like this, for example.

(sigh)

I'll let you know if I ever get a check...

Baby Onesies for a Better World

And now for something completely different...

As first reported in The Boston Globe's article, "Baby clothes make a political statement," the site BabiesForObama.com is now up and running at full steam. Offering "premium apparel for progressive toddlers and audaciously hopeful babies," the site's owners will donate a portion of any profits earned to Obama's campaign.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I am one of those owners. And I would greatly appreciate it if you would drop by the site at:

www.BabiesForObama.com

Thanks also to Phil Cubeta for citing it on his blog.
