"Big Brothers Big Sisters, a premier non-profit agency whose mission is providing one-to-one mentoring relationships has an opportunity for a Community Recruitment Coordinator/Events Coordinator in Collin County, Texas.

"Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for a skilled, self-motivated person to serve as an AmeriCorps*VISTA member for one year. Make a difference in your community by helping kids who need a positive adult role model in their lives. Become an AmeriCorps Vista member and help Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) recruit more volunteers, promote BBBS and make a big difference in our community. Develop leadership, marketing, networking, and outreach skills. This is a full-time, 12-month position beginning in Summer 2008.

"AmeriCorps*VISTA member will receive an annual living allowance of approximately $800-900 monthly, vacation & sick leave, along with extensive training, basic individual health insurance, and student loan deferment, as well as a post-service education award of $4725 to help pay for student loans or future college courses. Job Description
Title: Director of Development

Department: Education

Reports To: Vice President of Education

FLSA Status: Exempt

Purpose:
The Director of Development for meeting agency fundraising goals by working with national, regional and local corporate, government and private foundation partners. Working with the V.P. of Education and the President, the Director of Development manages and implements fundraising campaign, supervises special events and is responsible for reporting progress to the Board of Directors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

A. Corporate, Foundation, Government, Individual Development 45%  Develop and lead annual national and Dallas region campaigns to raise funding to support mission.(In 2008, the goal is $3 million)
 Assist in the creation and implementation of development strategies for each target audience
 Research and build list of new funding prospects.
 Builds and manages cultivation strategy for all donors and creditor contributors
 Manages the contributor cultivation events, fundraising event(s) and annual fund campaign
 Ensure regular reports are sent to contributors on the use and impact of their gift
 Assists regional presidents in developing regional development plans

B. Proposal Writing 30% Develops the agency’s written approach and/or response to partnership opportunities.
 Oversees strategy for grant writing initiatives.
 Supervises other writers to ensure completeness and quality of all grant proposals.
 Meets with potential contributors to review funding interests and priorities.

C.Internal and External Communications 20% With assistance from Marketing, send regular communications to build CCCS relevance within each market
 Ensure all contributions and meetings with contributors are acknowledged in a timely manner
 Prepares all development reports for internal distribution
 Ensures website accurately reflects CCCS development strategy and provides recognition of contributors
 Supervise implementation of comprehensive donor database

D. Management Support 5%
 Assists VP of Education with organizational strategy implementation, including regional development strategy
 Provides coaching and regular reviews to assigned team members
 Work with Quality Assurance department to provide opportunities for development team members to expand their expertise and grow their job-related skills
 Recommend CCCS improvements that increase value and/or decrease costs
 Recommend Development department improvements that will increase results and/or decrease costs

Supervisory:
This position manages all development efforts, including the work of people not on the development team.In addition, this position interacts frequently with the board of directors and community leaders on behalf of the agency.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience:
 BA or Masters from four-year college or university
 Excellent computer skills, including familiarity working with databases and with Microsoft Word. Experience working with donor databases preferred.
 Strong verbal and writing skills required.
 Ten to fifteen years work experience in development with a proven track record of raising money.
 Some management experience required.
 Must have satisfactory credit

About the Financial Analyst Position
With expertise in financial modeling and risk and credit analysis, the FA will be nimble and skilled at knowing what financial data to gather and how to quickly and effectively analyze it to inform business decisions. S/he will have amassed experience informing business decisions and be comfortable in an extremely fast-paced environment in which data must be quickly gathered and evaluated. Financial fluency in myriad financial modeling structures will equip the FA to shed light on credit risks for both Criterion and its clients. To the same end, the FA will have the management acumen to analyze cash flows and capital needs including assessing the credit worthiness of pools of investors. In addition s/he will be able to thoughtfully assist in analyzing, dreaming up and improving business models on both large and small scales. By working closely with the senior management, the FA will inform the evaluation of growth opportunities for Criterion and for its clients and be in a unique position to influence the development of social change entities. His/her commitment, therefore, to social change must run deep.

Job Opening at CDM: Major Gifts Officer

Central Dallas Ministries (CDM) is one of the largest, most effective faith-based organizations in North Texas and is celebrating its 20th year of service to the community. CDM operates a network of hunger relief, healthcare, housing, legal service, employment training and educational programs serving more than 30,000 unduplicated people throughout the Greater Dallas area.

The Major Gifts Officer will manage relationships and fundraising efforts with the almost 200 major donors and prospects in North Texas. Responsibilities will also include the identification, evaluation, cultivation, solicitation and management of individuals capable of contributing major gifts of at least $5k annually, with a focus on individuals capable of gifts of $25k and over. The individual will also be responsible for developing various church partnerships toward this end.

Ideal candidates will have:
  • Strong initiative and self-motivation
  • Three to five years demonstrated successful experience and effectiveness in major gifts fundraising with a focus on prospect identification, relationship building, and solicitation
  • Experience in solicitation of large gifts
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills; excellent research skills; superior written and oral communication skills; and relevant computer skills
  • Ability to work both entrepreneurially and collaboratively, and to function both as a leader and a partner within a team framework
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Interest in and working knowledge of community development, faith-based initiatives, and social service highly desirable.

This position will split time working from home and out of our development agency’s office in Plano, Texas.

Job Opening: Exec Dir for NTBHA

The North Texas Behavioral Health Authority (NTBHA) is accepting applications for its Executive Director (ED). NTHBA is the local authority for public mental health and substance abuse treatment services in the seven county NorthSTAR service delivery area. The ED position requires a master’s degree or equivalent work experience. Applicants must be able to demonstrate positive work experience that includes: managing an office staff, developing and monitoring budgets, working with a public board, producing complex work within deadlines, and public speaking/presentation skills. Job Opening to work with Foster Care youth

TRACCentral Dallas Ministries has an immediate opening for the Site Coordinator for TRAC, the regional transition center for teens aging out of foster care. The successful candidate will supervise case management services, program implementation & reporting, and will coordinate the continuum of TRAC services that move former foster youth to independent living. TRAC uses a comprehensive case planning approach, maintaining a high degree of external contact with community resources. Qualified candidates will have at least 3 years experience in or in close collaboration with CPS, other child-placing agency and/or juvenile services; at least 5 years of exemplary organizational management experience; broad knowledge of mental/behavioral health, educational, and clinical theory.
